yay! so nice to see them. and so nice to hear them chat at dinner. juggling the 3rd car at our condo is very stressful though. anyone else’s kids come home instead of Cancun, Costa Rica or Florida?
Can I just say I am intensely jealous? Enjoy it while you still can.
I went to see my parents for spring break last week. Spring break falls between their birthdays so it’s a happy coincidence.
Unfortunately it was a hard visit because we spent much of the time talking about my new diseases and the next steps with that. But it was nice to see my parents and our dog. Even convinced my dad to let me treat him to a nice dinner lol.
Mine is coming on Saturday for half the week.
Only one coming home but we’re enjoying it. I’m doing a lot of home cooking and we’re squeezing in visits with extended family.
:(( >:P
I’m jealous.
Ours is coming home tomorrow but she actually comes come fairly often
Mine is going to visit her boyfriend. She has never come home for spring break, the last 2 years she had activities with her team (not playing this year.)
I’m taking a half day at work today and driving the 5 hours to pick her up. She is now in a single room so I’ll spend the night with her (do other people do this? I feel a little funny, but it saves $200 on the hotel) and after her morning class, we’ll head home for the week. Its her birthday on Saturday but other than that I’m not sure she has any plans except to see other family and friends who might be home too. I know she is looking forward to down-time so I’m really glad we hadn’t made any special plans for the week.
For a savings of $200 (!) and if she had a single room, yeah I might consider staying!
My freshman D was home last week. The year is really flying by! She enjoyed a week of a nice combination of relaxing, sleeping, catching up on mindless tv like watching oodles of The Office episodes, doing some school work, completing a couple scholarship apps and then I took most of Thursday and Friday off and we did day trips.
I’m jealous, too. S is in the UK this year, he will be home but not until April. I miss him!
My child is a fifth year senior and came home and brought friends! First spring break at home. We live in the South and the beach is a few minutes away so that helped our cause. And I am sure the free meals and beds didn’t hurt.
My D1 will be home tomorrow!!!
2 boys coming this weekend. Three girls still at home ready to shuffle bathrooms/beds. I want to see their faces, but not really looking forward to more chaos/cooking/laundry/mess. Helping senior with job search will be on the agenda.
Our kids never had a single. When S had a apartment and his room mate hadn’t arrived, we stayed at his place instead of a hotel for a few days and saved some $ on a hotel. It was fine. For one nite, seems sensible to just bunk with your D in her single–why not?
My son is staying in Denver where he attends college and will be working an internship all week. And getting paid.
We went to D, instead, and made the short trip to NYC with her for a couple days. Then, H flew home, and my other kids and I stayed with D in her apartment style dorm and had a vacation in “her” city for a few more days. It was a lot of fun! I can see it becoming a tradition if D is available on other spring breaks.
This has been such a good week! D flew in Saturday night. On Monday night, three of her new friends from school drove up and stayed overnight so they could sightsee in Philadelphia on Tuesday (two had never been here so she had fun playing tour guide). I didn’t see much of them since they drove back that night, but I was happy for the chance to meet them.
I took off work yesterday and H took off tomorrow so we’d each get a chunk of time to hang out with her. Today she and a friend from HS are visiting a third friend at a local college. Saturday we’ll visit the grandparents and go to a cousin’s co-ed baby shower that night (which sounds like way more fun than the traditional ones), and then she’s off again early Sunday morning. It has been a bit of a whirlwind but so much fun. I will catch up on sleep, laundry, etc., next week when I am missing her.
found out our daughter’s roommate moved to another bldg so she’s got a single right now! suggested my wife stay her her, but sh’e already planning a trip to Montreal with her next month. our son broke up with his 2 yr girlfriend. kinda really sad. she txted Wifey and of course Wifey replied. glad they are young and can handle their changes. I’m such an old f*rt that I like my routines and keeping everything on an even keel
what a nice week. sad to see them go again but they’ll be back soon
