<p>Is it when you accept a college’s offer of admission and make your deposit, or is it when you actually register for classes, etc. in august?</p>
<p>I think that it’s when you accept a school’s offer of admission and send in your deposit by May 1. The reason I say this is that my high school publishes a “matriculation list” in mid-May with the seniors’ college decisions.</p>
<p>I’m sure it varies from institution to institution but at some you are not officially matriculated until a week or two into your first term. Often admissions office’s will hold the students records until this point, when it is transfered to the registrars office.</p>
