I agree with what you’re saying but this guy’s record is impeccable and when I’ve listened to him I’ve made money, when I don’t I get nailed.

Well…it isn’t impeccable anymore.

I really should not be trashing anybody because if people make money off these guys…that is what really counts…

I don’t understand you qualifier…when I get killled.

I am going out to dinner now…

Unemployment numbers are not accurate,as the total number employed is same as a decade ago…in recession,no…are we as strong as the stock market thinks, i think no…our family has been fortunate, annual increases have continued,i see the restuarants i frequent with solid bookings, high end malls are packed…that said, the structural issues to employment remain, and i don’t think we see 5% unemployment for a long time…

7%± unemployment will be the new norm

How do you figure its not still impeccable. When he made the original call, which was in sept, he said that you wouldn’t know for sure whether he is right or wrong until the end of the 2nd quarter of 2012. Another individual who is making the call is a permabull and is making a similar call but not expecting a deep recession and doesn’t expect any impact on the stock market because its undervalued.

IMO we are building another house of cards here in the stock market and in housing.

Not sure what I, the [almost] 26 year old is supposed to do right now. Doesn’t seem like a smart decision to enter the market at 13000.

Doct…on Sept 30th the call was the country was tipping into a recession…

<a href=“ECRI Sticks To Recession Call As Weekly Leading Index Continues To Climb | Seeking Alpha”>ECRI Sticks To Recession Call As Weekly Leading Index Continues To Climb | Seeking Alpha;

Here is my call… Someday we will have another recession…

26 year olds, if they have the money…why shouldn’t they buy stocks?

Qdogpa…i don’t think we will see 5% unemployment numbers for a long time either.

Soccerguy

Investing is like political science: You gotta keep a dialogue, an open mind, and a understanding that everyone wants to come out head with minimal risk.

At your age and unless you have great monetary wealth, This is the perfect time for investing.

“Not sure what I, the [almost] 26 year old is supposed to do right now. Doesn’t seem like a smart decision to enter the market at 13000.”

I have one who is almost 28, and he has been investing in stocks since 2008 (the last crash) and has made more than 100K, maybe more.

Dstark: As you have so aptly referenced: “ECRI’s Co-Founder & Chief Operations Officer, Lakshman Achuthan, said recession should begin by mid year 2012.” That being said, in the words of the infamous sage from Fast Money, Guy Adami: “Price is truth”

He is moving the goal posts…

These sorts of topics seem to crop up at turning points or inflections or, in TA terms, symmetric triangles. The market has gone up a lot despite a lot of economic and geopolitical headwinds and tension does spill over onto CC topics when that happens (my observation).

Stuff this week: China lowering growth forecasts, employment number on Friday, Apple launch on Wednesday.

“These sorts of topics seem to crop up at turning points or inflections or, in TA terms, symmetric triangles”

:)

Parent1986… Very nice.

Son started his new job five minutes ago - he’s in orientation today. I’m working on finding him an apartment which may be a challenge. Unemployment in MA is 6.8% with consumer confidence at 84 (out of a 100 scale I believe). What the economy needs is jobs and business growth; that’s what the market really needs too; to some extent. Some companies can prosper with exports (which is good too) but we really need jobs, jobs, jobs. Bernanke put a damper on expectations on jobs last week with his testimony. I think that he’s right overall but I do think that things are better overall in my state (NH) and the one next door (MA) and it is refreshing to not have to listen to the doom and gloom, at least locally.

Nice BCEagle91… Good luck to your son…

Your son is going to be writing software?

Wow…we just had an earthquake…

Things were shaking …but it was short…maybe a few seconds.

Around a 4.0

"---- Apple launch on Wednesday. "

So do we sell on the news or sell before the news.

That’s a big part of the job but it includes research too.

I haven’t decided what I’m going to do right now. I imagine that puts and calls are pretty expensive right now. If puts are cheap, say $10 down from here, then I’d take a look at buying them.

Which industry is your son working in? Financial?
