Kine 199

Hello college fellows,
My advisor said there would not be any instruction in KINE 199. I want to learn to play golf, but then should I take this class when I have never ever played golf before? Will the instructor give us some kind of guidance, or they just give pass/fail?

Thanks!

From looking at page 21 of the 10-11 undergrad cataloge, it would appear that KINE 199 is pass/fail. It may be left up to you to hire a pro for lessons.

I’ve taken two Kine 199 classes so far.

In beginning soccer for the first few weeks they just taught everyone how to pass, shoot, dribble, head the ball, how to play defense, and taught everyone the rules of the game. We mainly just did drills over and over and played a soccer game the last 20 minutes or so. I had already played soccer for fifteen years so it was very boring and redundant. After those first few weeks though we just went out on the field and played for 90% of the time.

In badminton she just quickly told us the rules of the game and then by the second class period we were playing matches the whole class period, and if you weren’t doing that then you were on the sidelines just chit chatting with people. We also had a very easy written test over the rules of the game at some point.

So I guess it depends on the professor you get, but it seems like they usually offer some sort of preparatory instruction before the class plays.

I’m glad this thread came up because I had a question over this. I’m registered for KINE 199 Beginning Soccer and I’ve played soccer for many years so I don’t think I would have any problem getting an A. Can I take 199 for a letter grade and 198 pass/fail or does it have to be 198 for a letter grade and 199 pass/fail?

You can take Kine 199 or Kine 198 pass/fail or for a letter grade. You get to choose. I know for my major I MUST take a Kine class pass/fail to get a degree.

It probably depends on what level she is taking; beginning, intermediate, etc.

I am taking beginning snow skiing, and the instructor is teaching the course as if we have no prior knowledge.

Based on Catalog 131 and 132, for Engineering student:

KINE 199 must be taken S/U
** KINE 198 may be taken S/U or for a regular grade

Yeah I had originally changed to letter grade and as of yesterday I changed back after our engr 111 teacher told us that your first KINE 199 must be taken pass/fail.
