Does anyone have any experience with the Applied Health Sciences school, particularly if one was interested in obtaining a Doctorate in Physical Therapy?

I am a freshman at UIUC and want to go down the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) route. Kinesiology is the most common major for PT school. However, my approach is different. I am going to major in Economics, and take the 8 or so PT pre-req courses that are required by PT schools. Since PT schools are very competitive to get into, I wanted to give myself a back up plan. So if you are interested in another subject, I would consider pursuing a major in that subject, while also taking the PT pre-reqs along the way. Just some food for thought. . .

Great idea…in fact, I’ve already thought that would be a good idea for my daughter to major in economics and take what she needs, as a backup plan!!! Good luck to you.

Anyone else in the AHS major? Wondering what you think of the program. we are going to the AHS open house this weekend…
