King Arthur flour recall

We just got an automated call from Wegman’s telling us that King Arthur flour has a recall on their unbleached flour.

Just wanted y’all to know so you can investigate/check your pantries.

Thanks for the heads up!! Need to check mine, but thank goodness it is “just” E. coli - we bake everything and never eat raw dough.

I saw that and tried to check my flour last night, but discovered that the identifying info is on the top flap part which we cut off to fit in the bin. Only a few cups left, I might just toss it (and the raw cookie dough in the frig) just to be sure.

Blech.

It’s cheap enough to replace, to be on the safe side.

I always put mine in a canister so there’s no way of knowing.

@Tiredofsnow , How did they have your contact information? I always buy King Arthur at the grocery using a loyalty card, perhaps they can trace purchases that way? Mine is still unopened so I’ll be able to check the lot number. Thanks for the information, I hadn’t heard about it. Interesting that flour purchased at Aldi has also been recalled because they use the same source. Perhaps I can now buy my King Arthur quality flour at Aldi!
Here are details of the recall: https://www.cdc.gov/ecoli/2019/flour-05-19/index.html

TOS, we got the same call this am. Maybe it’s a regional recall? I don’t even see a bag of the stuff in the pantry, so whatever we have is in a cannister and is already mostly gone.

I only use KA flour and I put it in a canister, so i have no way of knowing if my current batch is affected. I am making cream puffs with it right now. I’ll just make sure no one eats raw dough. If we perish, we perish.

@momsquad, I figure we were notified through our loyalty card. Thanks for the CDC link.

I don’t know, @CountingDown, it could be regional but the FDA link says the King Arthur one is nationwide.

seeing pillsbury is also being recalled now -
"Thousands of bags of Pillsbury flour have been recalled after some tested positive for E. coli.

Two specific lots of the brand’s Best 5 lb. Bread Flour were pulled from shelves on Friday in 10 states - Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

All 36,960 recalled bags were manufactured in Buffalo, New York, at ADM Milling’s manufacturing plant."

Same as others here, I store my flour in a canister. Luckily current bag was opened recently enough that I still had it in kitchen recycle bin.

I’m on a KA mailing list and also on CDC/FDA lists. I got the KA email first.
