Kirstie Alley

Ok - this is going to sound snarky. But I keep hearing and reading about her weight loss on Dancing with the Stars and I am very skeptical. Today I read she has lost 70 pounds! She does look thinner - but 70 lbs.? I have also read that she was a size 12 when she began the show and is now a size 6! Ridiculous! Maybe she started as an 18 and is now a 14. There is no way that she wears a size 6! She is still fairly heavy. I actually like her and I admire anyone who loses weight and has to deal with this issue publicly - but I feel she is being very dishonest and that bugs me.

Here’s one recent article:

[Kirstie Alley drops 70 pounds in new group of shrinking celebrities - Hartford Pop Culture | Examiner.com](http://www.examiner.com/pop-culture-in-hartford/kirstie-alley-drops-70-pounds-new-group-of-shrinking-celebrities)

and another

http://www.hollywoodlife.com/2011/04/20/kirstie-alley-dancing-with-the-stars-weight-loss/

Well, heavens, it’s not as though kirstie wrote the articles.

Always consider the source(s). The Daily Mail and The Examiner - the facts are not the most important consideration to either.

There’s no 70 pound difference between the before and after pics. Maybe 7 pounds.

It bugs me too when publications say a celebrity wears a size 6 or whatever and I, who am much smaller, can’t wear that size.

My understanding was that she’d already lost quite a bit before the first show aired. There was some footage of her mentioning she only had 40 more to lose.

To be honest, she does look like she has more than 40 extra, but it is true that people look quite a bit heavier on camera than in person.

Oh, and as to her current size…one might attribute that a bit to vanity sizing. My 17 year-old is not a skinny minnie. I buy her size 8 clothing most of the time. Her friends who are more typical, slender teens probably wear size 0, 1, or 2.

I just bought a beach dress, XS. If I wear size 0, Kristie might as well wear size 6. Vanity sizing.

I took a peek at the photos. It is hard to judge how much weight she lost because of the clothes, but her face and neck do look like she’s lost significant weight.

There are times I wear a size 6 in certain brands. Or even a size 8. I weighed 118 pounds the last time I checked. I don’t really care what size Kirstie Alley is, but I doubt we wear the same.

Looking at the photo posted above, if that’s a 6 I’d like to know what kind of clothes she’s wearing! Since I got sick and my thyroid quit, I’ve gone from about an 8 to a 12, and I am still smaller than she is, even taking into account that my weight is proportioned more generously than hers is. I would have guessed 14-16 looking at her. She looks great though compared to the last time I saw her, I’m really glad for her. Her… sense of humor reminds me of my mother and her sister, so I’ve always been partial to Kirstie Alley. :P

Does plus size clothing have different numbers or something? o.O

H has a secret “thing” for Kirstie Alley…thin, fat, he doesn’t care  Makes me remember a short lived tv program where the husband had a secret crush on Katie Couric.
