I took acts did great. Recently bombed sat 2s and am out of time. Thinking of not sending. Applying for STEM. Most of the schools do not require them for act students. Should I believe the schools? My math was mediocre 710 but my science was so bad I am considering having it recorred even if it is too late just for my own peace of mind. So thinking of not sending either except to the two schools that require it. Friends say that everyone wants to see sat 2s and you will not get top 10 without sat 2s even with excellent ACTs. Anyone know if this is true.? Do you know a someone without shhookwho got in without sat
It is not. I know many people who have been admitted to top colleges with “only” ACT scores.
Thank you. One question. What about the schools that do not require but recommend a math and science for stem or engineering. I am debating whether to send only my math 2 710? It is lower than my 34 Act (broken down 32M, 36R, 33E and 33S). Should I? I am quite intimidated by people on the Sat 2 forum “devastated” by their 770s. Which makes me think no?
Your ACT scores alone do not make up for low or No SAT 2 scores. Do you have high grades in Maths and Science in high school and did you take the most rigorous course load? That plus high ACT score can help you where Sat 2 is optional.
Let me add, all this also mainly depends on how competitive the program is.
@SaphireNY I know that ACT with WRITING is acceptable to many top schools. You must have a writing score to not send the SAT II. I know several kids who were accepted to the following schools with just the ACT w/ writing: BC, Villanova, Williams, Northeastern. Check/call the school to confirm.
Some top schools take the ACTs along or SATs wtih SAT2’s.
