I’m from Houston, TX and I decided to go to Tufts. When I told my friends they looked at me like I was talking about aliens landing.

Almost none of my friends had even heard of it. In my high school, out of over 750 people in my class, only 3 or 4 applied to Tufts, and I was the only one who went. In Houston, I find professionals have heard of Tufts but hardly anyone else has. This was two years ago so things may have changed slightly.

Has anyone else had this experience? Is Tufts known where you live? If you live in an area where people have heard of Tufts what do they think of it?

I live in Illinois and no one in my school has heard of Tufts. A couple of the teachers have, but that’s about it. I sometimes wish more people have heard of it, I mean it’s one of the best schools in the country, people should know about it. But on the other hand, if as many knew about tufts as harvard, think about how hard it would have been for us to get in! Lol, maybe tufts should become famous next year, now that we’re already going! =)

I live in New Jersey and I would definitely say that there are people who know of Tufts and those who don’t. The ones who don’t are just like, “What? What’s that?” But the ones who knows ALWAYS say, “Oh my GOD, good JOB!” Also, professionals know, and when you’re looking for a job they’re really the only ones that’ll matter.

Funny… I met someone from Texas this weekend who, when I said I went to Tufts, was all impressed.

I think that high schoolers aren’t as aware of schools as older people are. Believe it or not, I have a lot of people at law school who are really impressed with Tufts. Grad schools do have a high opinion of the school.

Generally, the public only knows about HYS, a few Ivies, and schools with awesome athletic teams.

Of course many people regard Beckham as GOD. But Ronaldinno is the one who has been getting Fifaplayer of the Year award. Let’s see who will be the most popular in this World Cup

Here in my home country Nepal. Most of the people dont know about Tufts. And when i tell them Tufts, they think its like Tough University. I guess i pronounced it wrongly. Acutally, how do u pronounce TUfts.

And those who seem to know are immediately impressed as one of you said earlier in the post

Hee, this story reminded me of my grandma. We told her I was going to Tufts and she’s like, OK, great…having no idea at all.
She belongs to this choir group and told one of her friends there that I was going and the friend raved to her about what a great school Tufts is.
Which was enough for my grandma, actually Who needs second opinions?
But yeah. Some people know Tufts, some people don’t. My friend got into Williams but when she tells people around here that most of them are like, where’s that? Then she says she got into Villanova and they’re like “oh my God, that is such a great school, you should go there!”
There are some schools that are just like that.
