Hi, I was wondering if you guys could recommend any colleges I should apply to ED! I know it’s pretty early but it doesn’t help to know what I should improve on. As you will see, I’m hoping that my EC’s will compensate for my lack of academics. As of now, I’m look at Columbia or Brown. Thanks!

You should probably attach a detailed resume/supplement, because some of your ECs are outrageously good/unbelievable. I think those ECs and your great test scores could get you into one of those schools ED, and compensate for your somewhat weak GPA. After all, you’re doing ACTUAL stuff in the real world to impact people already, whereas grades are just a measure of academic diligence. Your essay will also have to be great…Also definitely explain any weak points in our academic record. If they are understandable (or even insightful to how mature/insert quality you are), they could even help you. You definitely don’t seem like the typical applicant. GL!

Your subjective elements are excellent. Your SAT scores are great. The only thing thing holding you back is your GPA; it is an extreme rarity for an Asian with an UW GPA of 3.65 to get accepted.

Your GPA is low, as you have already stated, but your ECs are absolutely wonderful! I think that ED at either Brown or Columbia just improves your chances because in the ASian applicant pool, i’m not sure how many are as accomplished as you in the area of music. That is a huge plus, and your SAT is in the right range. Just get your recs and essays straight, and you have a solid chance! Good Luck! :)

BTW, I’m sure you’re glad about the Lakers today, Gasol and Ariza were nuts; Bynum was a solid contributor as well. Alas, your beloved Kobe had a horrible game in one where he was supposed to thrive! Oh well, you’re probably glad to keep moving on in the playoffs!!!

The top schools that you’re looking at are generally those that favor more holistic approaches. With that said, you won’t find a top school that gives your GPA only a cursory glance.

ha you’ve pretty much done everything u can to compensate for your GPA. only thing i would say is to bring it up. get straight A’s first semester senior year :D

I just want a school where the students are competitive yet chill at the same time. I’d prefer a university that can provide me with internships and such to help me find my interests.
