“grammar error in your post - The Pistons ARE a team”

boridi,

how many teams is/are the Pistons? 4? 345?

Kobe is such a ballhog.

Cornell, the reference to Pistons is that it is made up of the Piston Players. Hence, why it’s Pistons are a team.

What about Utah Jazz?

The Utah Jazz are a good team?

The Pistons is a team. The Pistons is in reference to the team, not the players that compose the team. I can see how you could use is/are, but don’t correct someone, that’s fine. You could say the Syracuse Orange is a team. Just cause its plural, don’t assume things.

Or, you wouldn’t say L.A. are a good team. You say L.A. is a good team.

I see what everyone is saying, but LOOK AT THE SITUATION that Kobe is in. He really CAN’T pass the ball to the members of his team because, frankly, they would lose. There is no powerful center (like Shaq) in the Lakers and there is no defense, no strong offense, etc. but the Lakers are going to have to deal with it and Kobe’s the only one who can win games. HE LEADS HIS TEAM to victory but his way is shooting the ball. You guys can look at it as being a ball-hog, but they didn’t even make the play-offs last year w/o Kobe. KOBE’S JUST DOING WHAT HE CAN to ensure victory, doesn’t anyone see that? He has to take the ball into his own hands to shoot. In his 81-pt game, the LAKERS WERE LOSING until Kobe geared up.

Kobe is NECESSARY in order for the Lakers to get into the Playoffs. Kobe already has his rings and his phat paycheck - he doesn’t need another championship to prove that he’s a superstar lol. :D

I’m hoping that the Lakers will win, but i know that its not likely because the team itself is pretty weak. However, I don’t understand why he is insulted for shooting for the win himself when no one stepped up. Lakers the team itself is weak, but Kobe is HELLUVA strong. He can’t win the championship by himself and Odom and others will hafta step in, but he’ll get far.

My fellow CC-ers, rather you think him arrogant or stupid, he really is a superstar. Fat paycheck, every major NBA website (lol), ranked in the top five for most categories, etc. He’s leading a doomed team into the playoffs. MOST VALUABLE PLAYER, fo’ sho, for helping a team that would wither and die without him.

^ indeed. And to clear things up, Shaq isn’t that good anymore. Not worth 20 mil a year. I’m sure someone saw that move Bynum made on him last week. Cmon, he’s slow and can’t keep up. He’s on his way out. Like kisstheskyxx said, he only shoots cause he has to. Lakers were down 18 before he got hot, they win by 18, come on. He is just doing what he has to to win.

ok lets drop the grammer debate

Grammar, not grammer lol. And yes, lets drop it.

lol grammer. ok i’m done

I’ve never heard that before, but if you do the math, it comes out to sleeping with one woman per night for 54.8 years.

Let’s say he had an early start and began at age 15 - that means he’d have to sleep with one woman per night until he was 70.

Of course, this is ignoring the possibility of sleeping with two or more women at the same time.

…Hmm.

lmao i was waiting for something like that to happen

I saw the video of it on the internet. Crazy - he sinks 3’s like it’s nothing.

in my opinion Kobe=Jordan. People are not giving him enough credit. Also, he is not a ballhog. His team sucks so he has the right to take matters into his own hands. and i believe he made 32 out of 40 something shots. You can take a lot of shots but you wont get close to his shooting %. Also, you cant compare Wilt and Kobe. They are 2 different times. Nowadays, there are more talented players. Wilt would not get close to 100 pts if he was to play in todays world.

Debate Closed :D

WHAT!! kobe is nowhere near jordan in any wayyyyyy
jordan lead his team to victory…

kobe ‘lead’ his team to a single victory against an awful team…
are the lakers even playoff bound this year?

Overall I am not impressed with the NBA. I would rather watch college basketball any day. Yeah Kobi got 81 points, so what? All that tells me is that no one plays defense in the NBA anymore. I know a high school kid who plays in a fairly competative league and he got 35 points in one game. Now I know for a fact that this feat actually took some skill, and that the other ream was playing defense…he’s just sick!

So, until I see some defense I won’t be impressed with 81 points.

right now, Kobe is not the player Michael was at his peak, but he still has time to make something of his team. Yes, Kobe’s 81 was against a bad team and a bad defender, but in Wilt’s time EVERY player wasn’t nearly as good as they are today, so it goes both ways.

If Kobe can get some supporting cast and bring himself to play for the team, you can realistically do jordan comparisons.

/but what do I know, I’m drunk

OK, taking into account the sub-par defense, maybe his effort was worth 50 or 60 points against a good team, and even that isn’t impressive?

If that’s not impressive I’d like to watch you play basketball.

50-60 points would be impressive with some good defense.

You don’t want to watch me play basketball…you’d throw up.

so how is 81 not impressive against anyone? It’s not like he was playing a high school team here, it was just a lesser pro team. 80 points against the raptors would be equal to at least 50 or so against a good team, so how is one impressive and one not impressive.

Say what you want about his character, or the team as a whole, but Kobe is a damn good PLAYER. Not saying he does for the team what Jordan did, but not everyone is jordan, and just being mentioned in any comparison with Jordan is a hell of alot better than 99% of NBA players can do.
