Korean presentation cane

When I was in MA for Passover last week, an old friend gave me this cane. It is etched with Korean characters. Does anyone here have wisdom to share?

No wisdom to share beyond hope that the inscription does not say “Made in Japan/China”.

lol. I don’t think so. Many lines of hangul.

It’s hard for me to make out the writing, but it doesn’t look like hangul to me.

I’ll take a better photo later. My friend who gave it to me thought it was Chinese. Definitely not.

It is hard to tell from the photo that there is any kind of writing, rather than scratches and dings.

close-up of characters on cane. I bow to CC’s superior wisdom!

Ok, it may not be Chinese…but it’s not Korean either!

No idea  but I can’t wait to see what CC comes up with!

Not modern Chinese or Korean.

It looks like ancient Chinese characters.

But unfortunately I’m not an expert on ancient Chinese characters (or non ancient Chinese characters).

Thai?

Yes, it has some resemblance to old Chinese seal script, but it would take someone more knowledgeable about that to determine if it is.

put it in google images

This is an example of ancient Chinese characters. It looks similar?

I copied and pasted, put it into Google, which indicated it was Chinese. Then I put it into Google translate, which interpreted it to be, “Yingdang Ming cooking every time.”

:rofl:I have a feeling that Google is entirely wrong.

The last character looks somewhat like one that I recognize, it means longevity.
@CFP is correct, these are from the ancient Chinese characters.
