Any ideas for a nice kosher restaurant in Manhattan. Went to Le Marais last year and want to find something similar. It’s for a nice dinner with cousins from out of the country who appreciate good food.

Go to TripAdvisor.com. Ask on the New York city forum. You will probably get 20 answers within 4 hours.

Also try menupages dot com, and choose “kosher” from the menu on the left. I have found it very helpful in general. You can also sort by neighborhood. You can call up menus for the places you’re interested in and see prices.

If you want something a bit downscale, I’d suggest Katz’s Deli. One of our usual stops in NYC.

Katz’s Deli is lots of fun to visit for a slice of Old New York, but it’s not actually kosher. So if you’re strict, try Mendy’s (several locations) or the 2nd Avenue Deli (now on East 33rd Street) instead.

The chowhound kosher forum [Kosher - Chowhound](http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/28) has a post right now with a link to New York magazine’s top kosher restaurant picks [Best Kosher restaurants in New York City - Time Out New York](Time Out New York | New York Events and Things To Do All Year). Le Marais is on the list, no surprise.

I didn’t know that - I just assumed. Of course we’re not strict.

The reuben didn’t tip you off? :)

Speaking of delis, check out the new book “Save the Deli”.

Ben’s [Ben’s Delicatessen Online](http://www.bensdeli.net) has been a favorite for years.

Prime Grill on 49th between Park and Madison.

Thanks all. We’ve done Ben’s Kosher Deli. Really good. I think we’ll try Mike’s Bistro this year. Upper west side - looks good and less money (somewhat) than Prime Grill or Solo.

Ben’s is one of our favorites for Deli, but although the meat is Kosher, it’s not a Glatt Kosher restaurant…if that’s an issue for anyone.

What about a non-eastern European restaurant?

Iranian/Middle Eastern: Colbeh is at 43 West 39th

Italian Dairy: Va Bene is at 1589 2nd Ave (near 82nd)

Indian Veg.: Chennai Garden 127 E 27th (Grammercy Park area) There are a number of restaurants advertised as Kosher/Indian/Vegetarian in NYC…
