It’s White-Knuckle Time for College Officials Too
April 27 2006 (google the article)
The percentage of students accepted for admission in 2005 who enrolled as freshmen at the following schools:

Occidental College: 21.0%

Cal State Northridge: 27.4%

USC: 32.5%

UCLA: 38.9%

Pomona College: 40.0%

UC Berkeley: 42.9%

Stanford University: 67.3%

It’s a pretty generic article, and completely California centric. I was surprised that the article said nothing about wait lists, double deposits, summer melt due to finances and so forth.

It was interesting to see the Occidental comments about their yield being lowest for middle class, presumably due to financial issues. I have not seen that topic mentioned by a college official before. Has anyone else?

university of washington aimed at a class of 5,100- they are getting a class of 5,600
