We have a family wedding in Chicago over Labor Day weekend. Does anyone know if we have classes on Labor Day? Since it’s right at the beginning of the school year, will my S. miss a lot if he’s gone from campus that weekend? I’d appreciate any opinions. Thanks.

Here is the holiday academic calendar for Wash U. No classes Labor Day.

He won’t miss any classes or anything like that. Since it is the beginning of the year, most students don’t go home for that break and there tends to be something or other on campus planned by Orientation staff, but probably nothing he’d mind missing.

Don Q - you don’t think he’d be missing too much socially if he’s gone for that weekend?

fallenchemist, I’ve been looking for that detailed calendar for weeks now. Thanks for posting!

It looks like no classes day before Thanksgiving. That is good, and very helpful to know.

Looking back at my schedule, the only things on my calendar around Labor Day weekend this year were Rock the Row (that Sunday), hanging out with my Freshman floor, and the Activity Fair (which wasn’t until Wednesday, so he probably wouldn’t miss that). So no, I don’t think it would be a big deal at all, really.

I think the real question is will he meet any cute girls his own age at the wedding? LOL.
