LAC Colleges with excellent aquatics facilities

Which schools have the latest and greatest, with preferably 50 meter pools? I know that both Kenyon and Middlebury have superb facilities. Any others come to mind? Conversely, which LACs have the worst aquatics facilities?

Wesleyan:

johnwesley, Wesleyan has a nice facility there, thanks! Any Midwestern local knowledge in this regard?

all my swimmer friends agree that wesleyan is great

UMiami is supposed to be really good.

I haven’t seen the pool, but I know that their swim teams are top-notch, so I’d imagine that the facilities are nice.

Grinnell has always had a very strong swimming team and I believe their aquatics facilities have been upgraded recently.

Hmm…the Claremont colleges have nice outdoor pools. :D

ill throw bucknell out for consideration:

Whitman college has a brand-new 25-yd competition pool with electronic timing and a rec pool. I heard that the swim team participated in the design and upon their request, nice windows were added.

Oxy has a horrible pool which they were suposed to renovate… Claremonts do have several pools, some are 50-m, but not “full Olympic” size.

But the prize for the ugliest, most horrid little pool goes to … drum roll… the University of Washington! Not a LAC, but it is pretty shameful for a D1 powerhouse to have a pool which has not been renovated since WWII. I heard that UW swim team practices somewhere else. I have seen the pool and I do not blame them.

hendrix college

Claremont colleges, definitely.

Franklin and Marshall

For the Midwest, I have heard sporty things about Gustavus Adolphus. [Athletic Facilities - Gustavus Adolphus College](<a href=“Gustavus Adolphus College - Official Athletics Website”>Gustavus Adolphus College - Official Athletics Website)

Definitely Kenyon. [Kenyon College - Facilities](http://athletics.kenyon.edu/x95.xml#x23414)
28 years in a row men’s D III champs, 21 out of last 24 years women’s D III champs.

Bowdoin, Colgate, Colby, Williams, Amherst

Not only are the Claremont pools gorgeous, well-maintained, and sometimes have the best views, they are also HEATED (abnormal for outdoor facility)

Forgot to add UChicago and Davidson

Colgate, Grinnell, Middlebury, Kenyon, and Whitman all have nice swimming facilities. I remember doing some college visits and remembering that Colgate’s and Whitman’s swimming facilities were particularly nice.
