Lack of ECs

I help out in my parents’ restaurant after school just about everyday. Due to this, I can’t be heavily involved in ECs. Do you think colleges would understand?

I help out in my parents’ restaurant after school just about everyday = heavily involved in EC.

That’s the definition of being heavily involved in an EC

Oh, thanks. I thought being heavily involved in ECs would only be entitled to clubs that are offered from the school.

That a job that is also a family obligation and takes a large amount of your time, so you list that and they understand what you are doing with your time outside of school.

Working in your parents’ restaurant is something to be quite proud of and, in my book, is a lot more impressive than participating in an after school club.
