Lack of high school diploma

<p>If you were to not obtain a high school diploma, but still get into top colleges and earn a bachelor’s degree and then a master’s degree, would your lack of a high school diploma affect you in the future? Basically, does a high school diploma only matter for college admissions? Employers are only going to look at your college credentials and not whether or not you have a high school diploma, right?</p>

<p>Senior year (4th year) was optional at my high school. If you got into a college early, you could leave early. Though you left without a diploma. Some people did this. </p>

<p>You just have to be sure that you are going to follow through and complete your BA degree. Otherwise, you don’t have much to fall back on.</p>

<p>My Grandpa was telling me that his employer didn’t care about his college degree, that they needed to show he graduated high school, but this was back in the 60’s, so…</p>

<p>Many colleges and universities routinely admit students who have not completed high school. Once you have your first college degree (whether it is an Associate or a Bachelor) from an accredited institution, no one will ever care again about you not having graduated from HS.</p>

<p>If you are still worried about this, ask your HS guidance counselor if you can receive your HS diploma after successfully completing a year of college. Sometimes this is possible.</p>
