Lackluster Academically, Outstanding Elsewhere

I’m a Senior at a very small school (just 73 in my class) school in East Texas. I have a very lackluster academic record, somewhat below average for my school actually.

Academics
SAT: 1830
Critical Reading: 670, Math: 490, Writing: 670
ACT: Composite 28
GPA: 2.8
AP: My school doesn’t offer AP classes.
Rank: (as of beginning of this academic year) 43/78

Despite my poor academics, most of my teachers believe I am a straight A student, and since Junior year, I’ve been really pushing for better grades. Both this and last year, I’ve made all As and high Bs except in Algebra II last year (technically failed, final grade of 69.5 rounded up to a passing 70) and Spanish III this year (which is an 81 right now).
As you can tell, I have very little skill in math, but I am improving since the first half of high school and certainly since Junior High.
Nevertheless, my past record really drags down my GPA, which is my primary worry.

On to my extracurriculars:

–500+ hours of community service & volunteer work every year since 5th grade.
–Boy Scout since 5th grade.
–Earned Eagle scout last year.

–Attended Youth Tour sponsored by Texas Electric Cooperatives (via winning an essay contest) in 2008.
–Founded a Junior State of America chapter at my school Junior year (which no longer exists due to lack of interest).
–Qualified for State in UIL Current Events & Issues competition in 2007. 3rd in District in 2008.
–Attended UIL Model United Nations in 8th grade & since 10th grade. Won Best Delegate last year.
–Filmed for my church since 8th grade, filmed for football team 10th and 11th grades.

–Have had a short essay published in my local newspaper.

My interests include photography, cinematography, sound design, bicycling, canoeing, art (sketching mostly), computers, blogging, politics, & international development.

Intended major: International Relations

Applied to:

Suffolk University (safety)
Baylor University (accepted on mathematic probation)
Southern Methodist University
University of North Texas (safety, accepted outright)

So, what chances would y’all give me? My top choice is Clark, so I’d aim for that level of standards. Many thanks to all who respond!

I would like to note that I received an acceptance packet from Clark University today.

So, apparently, my chances were pretty good! Many thanks to those who PMd me!
