Ladies: Ideal Male Height

Perhaps. But I wasn’t talking about the “noticing”, but rather, the fact that the sound and thought of 5’8/5’9 differs in people’s reactions. W/e. I don’t personally think it’s a big difference.

Most people don’t even know what 5’8" or 5’9" looks like since most people lie about their height.

oh

Very true.

Also, there was a study done where groups were asked to guess the height of a test subject. Even though the test subject was the same man, the study found that different groups attributed a taller estimation of his height when his status was upgraded (for example, when he was introduced as a teaching assistant, he was given an average height of 5’10", but when he was upgraded to a professor, he was given a height of 6’). What this tells us is that even something as physically obvious as tallness and shortness has a lot of social bias involved.

I vote for short!..and if we were having this discussion about the ideal breast size or weight for women…we would be called sexist.

nbachris2788–wow that’s REALLY interesting!

I am pure Chinese immigrant and I am 6 ft!! I know it is not tall, but I am happy :).

I am the OP; I’m sorry if I offended any male here less than 5’7". Most women want a guy who is taller than 5’6."

My ideal male height is 6’1"-6’3". They don’t need to be giants. I prefer medium-to-muscular built.

Regarding Asians, I notice Korean and Northern Chinese descent men tend to be tall (at least 6 foot).

This is exactly how I classify male heights.
Some girls who are considerably short might prefer a short guy, like girls who are under 5’0". I actually see them at my school every now and then.

I’d put Koreans and Chinese at 5’9"-5’10". I believe Filipinos tend to be the shortest of the Asians; the average is somewhere under 5’8".

I’m 5’5" and my boyfriend is 5’7" and I don’t think of him as really short…? Err maybe he’s 5’8", Iunno. Definitely shorter end of average but not short.

edit: I also like 6’1.5"

My friend was born in Korea and he’s 6’1.5" tall.

Besides that, I have definitely see some 6’0+ Koreans and Chinese men although the average height for them is around 5’10". Southeast Asians are very short.

The shortest are cambodians and vietnamese.

Oh, that would make sense.

This thread makes me sad im 6’6"

there’s a subset of women who love giant guys and since there aren’t very many of you, you’re all good.

I noticed that a lot of girls in this thread wanted a guy usually taller than them. The question in my head is ‘Why?’. I do not like girls to be shorter than me as a guy. An inch or two is fine but I do not like it when they are like 5’3-5’5 and I am over six inches taller. Anyone here want to tell me that?

It’s pretty obvious - the average woman is 5’4, the average guy is like 5’9 - men are taller, and there is a 5 inch difference on average, so obviously most women end up dating men who are taller than them…not hard to figure out. Most girls prefer average/tall guys, not guys who are shorter than them…I guess it’s partly because traditionally, men are seen as physically stronger and bigger, which they are. Even though in modern times a man doesn’t necessarily need to “protect” a woman, how many times do you see women with men shorter than them? it happens, but it’s rare.

I prefer men to be 4-6 inches taller than me. Anything more and he’s too big for me.

Some women want taller men because they want taller children.

hmm…I don’t really care too much but I suppose they should be atleast 5’6’'. No midgets lol.

Other than physical attraction, I think the main reason is that girls fear that if they date a shorter guy, they (the girls) will be seen as somehow indesirable because only a desperate girl would date a guy shorter than they were. Unless, of course, the short guy was somebody like Gael Garcia Bernal.

Hmm… Asian people here (in canada) aren’t short, but aren’t tall either. I think we’re pretty average. I mean, there’s the odd person whos like 5’0, but I’ve also seen a quite a few over 6 feet.

However, when I went back to China last year, I saw A LOT of really tall people. The average was probably over 6 feet.
