Lafayette College ED (Class of 2021)

hi, I just got accepted to Lafayette and was wondering if there is a facebook group I could join! If there isn’t, someone message me and we could start one.

When do students that got deferred on ED hear back?

You should hear along with RD candidates in late March.

Thank you. One more question, what are the chances for a student who got deferred on ED to get accepted?

^^^Nobody here works for admissions so your guess is as good as anyone’s. You can look at the class profile and get an idea of where you stand. https://about.lafayette.edu/lafayette-at-a-glance/class-profile/

My EDII application was deferred… I’ve heard that once your application is placed in that pile it never makes it haha internally cries in spanish. What do you guys think about it? I’m an international student and I NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (which I believe is a huge deal breaker).

Is it true it also depends on the other students that apply from your country?

I think it’s so for schools who also focus on diversity of their admitted class.

@helloitsmelol I wouldn’t discount your chances so quickly. I’ve heard stories of people who have gotten into a variety of different colleges (including Lafayette) after having been deferred in the ED I or ED II round. The international and need for aid pieces don’t help, but I believe in you. Keep your chin up, show interest in Lafayette, and everything will work out for the best.

I’m a freshman at Lafayette, by the way.

@limitsbylaw Really helps. Thanks.

@schoolgirl251 It’s hard to predict that, but a great place to start would be the regular decision acceptance rate (because I don’t see a reason why you would be disadvantaged in that round because you were deferred). The regular decision rate for my class was ~26%, so at the very base you probably have a 1 in 4 chance. Nevertheless, you can increase that number - as I mentioned above, show interest! Lafayette is a college that wants to admit people who really do want to become Leopards, so that can go a long way.

@helloitsmelol, even though this is not an official statement, it does appear that Lafayette caps the number of students it accepts from a given country in order to make a diverse class. However, I would not let that deter you from you efforts.

I am a first year at Lafayette and I agree with @limitsbylaw . Lafayette values interest and enthusiasm to attend the school. How I see it, if you’ve been deffered Lafayette seems to think that they want you and are trying to find space to put you into the class. So, keep going.

One of my sons just received a “Congratulations” envelope today, his twin did not. I haven’t opened it, waiting for him to get home from school. The one who did not get a package did not receive a rejection letter. Hoping that his is just delayed by a day!

Were accepted ED students notified of marquis scholarships with their acceptance letters in December?

is there an accepted students group me for lafayette
