<p>I’m not a skier at all…and I’ve had some good fun at ski areas. Snow or no snow…it will be a great vacation.</p>
<p>There will be skiing FOR SURE…it is more a matter as to how good the skiing will be and how much will be open, etc. My D was just skiing at Squaw and while limited, there is indeed skiing to be had. Just not an ideal winter so far. Same goes for the ski area I live at in Vermont.</p>
<p>Back to finalizing travel plans. Got some recommendations this evening from friends that perfectly matched gosmom’s recommendations!! Just booked dinner at Cyrus!</p>

<p>Looking at deals we have with Marriott/Renaissance (The Lodge at Sonoma) but there is some renovation going on at the lobby bar (thats ok- we will be consuming wine elsewhere), Madrona Manor (looks adorable), Sonoma Mission Inn, The Cottage Inn and Spa, and… oh rats I just lost the name of another I was looking at. Recommendations?</p>
<p>jym, have only stayed at SMI, which is lovely, great spa, golf course. But, you will be driving to every place. Marriott: you know the quality you get and its fairly close to
downtown Sonoma. The Cottage Inn would be perfect for strolling Sonoma. And Madrona Manor would be perfect for strolling Healdsburg Square.<br>
I don’t think you could go wrong with any of these…</p>

<p>You guys have been so helpful!! Turns out that even though yes, could have used Marriott points to stay at the Lodge, The Madrona Manor is running a stay one night/get one night free deal during the week, and it just looks so charming, we decided to stay there. Come join us, gosmom!!</p>

<p>Free is great. Charming is overrated. I am happy you will compare Sonoma to Napa. Be prepared to put lots of miles on your car to avoid the relative boredom. But then you will be exhausted by all that ski schlepping and elbow lifting at the taverns.</p>
<p>Not sure which Hilton you ended picking, but the Union Square is just OK. I hope your hubby has some Hilton clout to get an upgrade. The basicrooms are dumpy but good enough for a night. Do not expect much and you will not be disappointed. The Mandarin Orienttal is surely a better fit for your caviar and champagne taste. :)</p>
