DS and GF are in Calistoga as we speak. They can pay for their own )($*$^&#$ romantic getaway :)

We can stay at any Hilton /Embassy suites property. Possibly even A waldorf Astoria property-- lemme check on that!

Rats. There is no Waldorf property in No. Calif. What’s the nicest Hilton property in the area?

BTW- this isnt agony. Finding the best places and good deals is sport!

night skiing @ squaw valley

[Squaw Valley Night Skiing 2012 02 03 - YouTube](<a href=“Squaw Valley Night Skiing 2012 02 03 - YouTube”>Squaw Valley Night Skiing 2012 02 03 - YouTube)

ALL of the Hiltons in SF and the one on the Peninsula south of SFO are just OK. They are all in older high rises and Meh locations. Nice is not how I would describe them. They are more geared toward the road warrior type.
Sorry

We just need a place to hang our hats that night, as it were. Dont need anything fru fru.

Charming becomes much more highly rated AFTER you have paid to send two kids to college:)

True! I might have overestimated the depth of the pile of Marriott points. If not, how can you beat a free stay at the Sonoma Lodge.

Same for SF, the Marriot Marquis and even the Courtyard at Moscone are better choices than the Hilton.

Next time, Jym can check the other choices and let us know. She deserves some fru fru after spoiling the boys for eight long years of tuition. ;)

We like the Hilton near Union Square just fine, mostly for the shopping, when you can get a deal. But park across the street for better rates.

The Hilton free night is time limited-- The Marriott points are not. And surely we will be back in that neck of the woods when the lobby bar isn’t under construction. We have a boatload of Marriott, Starwoods and Hilton points, thatnks to DH’s working on the road for 2 years. We used SPG (Sheraton) points to stay at the base of Steamboat 2 years ago. Nice :)

As far as we were concerned, the number of points we’d have to use at the Sonoma Lodge wasn’t worth it, so will save them for another venture. I was peeved when my DH covered his brother’s stay at a hotel using our Marriott points, but in truth, they are his points, so he can use then as he chooses. His brother hs a gift for gettign other people to pay his expenses. It is truly amazing.

Just spokee to DS and gf, who are up in Calistoga right now. We’ll stay in town , probably at the Union Sq location, Fri night. CC meetup anyone??

which Fri? I’ll be there !

24th (evening) or breakfast on the 25th

Jym/MPmom–would love to join you in SF but will be in NYC (IRL would be fun!); Tahoe City is on the schedule for the President’s weekend. Continue to pray for snow! (We’re supposed to have a little bit this week).

Will you be at squaw presidents week?

No, not during the week (work calls) and I’m afraid my skiing days are over, although I adore Squaw.

jym wish I could join the meetup, but DS2 is coming home for break that evening. Hope you have a great trip.

Sorry will miss you guys

we could ask POIH!!
