Lambuth College is closing

It was announced today that Lambuth College will shut down at the end of this academic year.

I’m going to bump this up because I’m curious if any one knows how these students will transfer elsewhere–the timing seems difficult.

A very harsh reminder to pay attention to accreditation and any financial difficulties a potential university may be having. I really do hope these students and faculty members are taken care of by another university.

My heart goes out to the students, professors, other employees and alumni. BUT, my understanding is that the RA was lost because Lambuth was in the process of “selling” its accreditation via a partnership with a for-profit on line operation. That must be stopped. IMHO.

Here is what I read about this just this morning…

[Board of Lambuth University in Jackson votes to cease operations June 30 : Memphis Commercial Appeal](http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2011/apr/14/lambuth-university-jackson-close-its-doors-june-30/?print=1)

What I do not understand is that this school does not have its proper accreditation because they are on probation (and maybe even worse by now if they have to close up) from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. So, they are kinda making sure that their upcoming senior class can graduate as well as their upcoming summer school class.

But, what about everyone else? How can all of the other students transfer if their school hasn’t a proper accreditation any longer or if they are still on probation? And how can another school “take them in” if their accreditation is messed up and all?

I feel really bad for anyone who is adversely affected by any of this. I really do. It would be most anyone’s worse nightmare, really.
