A Montgomery high school senior [Jacinth Greywoode] has been selected as a Presidential Scholar, one of only two students statewide to receive the academic honor awarded by the White House. “I’m very honored and humbled to have been named a Presidential Scholar,” Greywoode said, “but honestly, I’m a bit astounded to be selected over so many equally qualified applicants.” “Jacinth has earned almost every type of academic award a student can achieve, which doesn’t include his involvement in numerous extracurricular activities and his reputation as an award-winning concert pianist,” Norman said.

Greywoode’s accomplishments include being the valedictorian of LAMP’s senior class of 2008, a National Merit finalist, a National Achievement finalist, a member of the National Honor Society, and a member of both the Spanish and math honorary clubs, she said. His grade point average is 4.67 out of a 4.00, and he will be attending Princeton University in the fall.

She said that while LAMP is full of gifted students, Greywoode is among the cream-of-the-crop of all the students she has taught in more than 21 years as an educator.
