Language Immersion Camp

My daughter is considering BYU Language Immersion camp. We are not Mormon and I am told approximately 50% of the campers are Mormon. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this camp. Do they actively recruit during the camp? The program seems great especially since it counts as a year or high school, but I am worried about my daughter being pressured if I send her.

If it is only 50%, then I really wouldn’t worry (I would check up on that stat though), There will be some peculiarities like dress code and such but just imagine, as it is an immersion thing after all, that Utah country is something akin to a foreign country. BYU has a great reputation for languages. I really doubt they actively recruit to the LDS church in a money spinner that is aimed at gentiles. The local youngsters themselves are unlikely to be that motivated, as this is for 14+. Utah has a very popular language immersion program in many public schools that is packaged as a magnet program and thus attracts quite a lot of non LDS.

My dd went to French camp there a couple of yrs ago. We are not Mormon. She was put in a dorm room with another non-Mormon. There was no attempt to convert her during the camp. But, it made her equally aware that there was no way she would ever want to attend school there. (The French professor did ask her if she had considered attending, but it was not b/c of Mormonism but bc dd loves French and her French is excellent. That professor ended up giving dd some of her books at the end of camp.)
