I was hoping someone in the know can tell me what it is like being a language student at Mac. My son wants to study Linguistics and multiple languages…specifically Asian and Slavic languages. Macalester looks to my eyes like it could be one of the top LACs for this type of thing:
Chinese, Japanese and Russian Majors. Linguistics Major. Chinese and Japanese Houses. Great study abroad to Asia. Urban environment. Lots of international students.
Any thoughts? Best,

Based on the alignment with your own research, it seems to make sense that Macalester appears as one of the six coeducational LACs in this site:

Agreed Mac is good for languages (offers Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.)
Mac also is in a consortium with 4 other nearby LACs, which gives access to the additional languages of ASL and Hmong, if either of these are of interest to your student.

Thanks to both of you. Seeing Mac on that site confirms my suspicions. It seems like a great fit for him.

My D26 is also linguistics-oriented and already thinking about Mac, so following with interest…
