Is it best to have a smaller case or a larger one? I have a 13" MacBook Pro. The smaller case would fit my Mac and the cord. The larger would fit those as well as a notebook or two in a separate compartment. Are there times when it would be beneficial to have the extra space? Thanks!

Smaller cases usually have better protection. However, I recommend that you just toss your laptop in your backpack.

Seconded. I simply put my laptop in my messenger bag with my notebooks and such, and it hasn’t had an issue. Granted, I have a SSD in it (no moving parts), but still I’ve yet to experience issues.
