So I know most schools give nice laptop discounts, and I’m pretty sure WashU is included. When do these things start? I’m heading off to FSAP in early June, and I’d like to have a nice shiny MacBook to take along with me. However, after 18 years of using PC’s, I feel like I need time to get acclimated to an Apple. So I kinda want to have this baby by the end of May. When do the discounts start? My parents said if there is a discount, they won’t buy it until it starts (which makes sense)…

okay, update…I went on the apple website…and you can save like $50-200, which kind sucks but I guess a discount is a discount. You can choose your school, but it doesn’t say how you have to prove you go to said school or anything…

That discount is not Apple’s official “back-to-school” discount just yet. If you’re looking for a Mac, I think your best bet is to wait until June (I believe the discounts opened up around June 14th last year), log in to the academic page as a WashU student, and voila.

If their discounts are the same as they have been for the last couple years, you’ll get about $200 off the cost of the notebook, a free printer, and a free ipod. I’m not really sure that there is any verification of what school you’re at, but as far as I know that’s the same price you’d see if you came in to the campus bookstore to buy the notebook.

Sorry about the wait, but the discount doesn’t really start until early June… I switched from PC to mac when I started college, and it really only took me about a month to get adjusted, though. By the way, I definitely recommend buying Office '09 for Mac, instead of buying Apple’s iWork Suite…

Well, I’ll be on campus June 13th, and classes don’t start till the 15th…I guess I could survive at the library and have my parents order one through the on-campus store so I could just get it there. I wouldn’t want to miss out on a free Ipod!! I know they gave out Itouches last year, and I was planning on getting one of those anyway…thanks for the info Don! :)

Don’t worry, you won’t need very much time to get used to a macbook, and waiting until July is definitely worth the printer/ipod included!

^^^Haha I know…thanks for the info guys!

Since im going to the business school, i think im gonna get a pc. Will there still be discounts around the 15th?
