As an Information Systems major in the Robert H. Smith School of Business will I need a laptop for my classes?

I’m not sure how many people actually use their laptop to take notes in class (as opposed to playing Farmville, watching youtube videos during class, etc), but having the portability of a laptop is immensely helpful.

Asking “laptop vs. desktop” is a little like asking “laptop vs. chisel and slab of stone.”

You may not take class notes on your laptop, but you will take it to the library, to study groups, etc.

Yeah, there’s no reason you want a desktop. You don’t need extreme performance or anything… Unless you want to play Crysis in class or something.

Yes. Please get a laptop. with a desktop you will be restricting yourself and any work you hope to get done to your room; which will leave you at the mercy of your roommate as well. You want to be able to take your work somewhere quiet and this just isn’t a guarantee if you are nailed to your room.

Ok! Thanks for the advice everyone.
