hey, quick question. ^^
what is the best/ more useful laptop to buy for DAAP.
thanks

Don’ t buy one now. DAAP will tell you what they want. Currently it was some sort of MAC duel core. Sorry, I can’t be more explicit since it is my daughter who is more computer literate than I. However, first wait till you get accepted and then wait within a few weeks of starting the program before you order your MAC. You can usually get it cheaper ordering it through the business store of UC anyway.

Eva - here’s the computer requirements page on the UC DAAP website. You will note that each major within the college has different computer requirements. either Mac or Lenovo’s/IBM. Like Taxguy suggested, wait to be admitted, confirm your major and the DAAP computer requirements that will be posted … http://www.daap.uc.edu/admissions/compreq.php

you will also find a great deal of info on the UC and DAAP websites, they are very good and have a wealth of info.

My S is finishing his junior year in the DAAP Architecture program (yes, he has had two outstanding co-ops), and here is our funny computer purchase story.

Back in the summer of 2004 we were purchasing his Mac laptop, through the DAAP/Apple link, and near the end of the purchase process S was offered additional accessories for purchase. One of these was an iPod, priced at $260 with a $200 rebate (no that is not a typo!). S desparately wanted the iPod, but I had no idea what it was so I told him he would have to pay for it himself. Of course he did, and now I know what an iPod is and what a great deal he got on it.

My suggestion is to purchase the required laptop so it arrives a few weeks before you move in, so that you have time to play around with it, configure, load software (purchased separately in 2004), etc.
