Large score range for real SATs?

Why does The Official SAT Study Guide include such a wide range when converting raw scores to scaled scores. I understand why the range might be, say, 20 points… but not over 80? Should I just use the mid-point of the range?

Also, does the Official SAT Study Guide include the same tests as the Real SATs, third edition?

Thanks!!!

the ranges are so great because those tests were never actually normed, because the tests were never actually administered, which is necessary in order to “curve” them. i’d recommend using the mid-point of the range.

the two CB books you referred to have different tests in them. you can check this out by using the searchable version of the 10RS book available on amazon.com.

Just assume that your score is the average of the range it gives you and move on with your life.

Thanks! One more question… are the tests from the Official SAT Study Guide just as good as the real SATs? I assuming they are.
