He lived near my community and was active in local causes. He would open his home (a ranch near Ojai named “Heaven”) for fundraisers. A very good man. RIP

Aww.when DH and I were poor newlyweds, our standing Friday night date was pizza and beer at our neighborhood pizza dive and then home to watch Dallas.

We watch the new Dallas on TNT. Larry Hagman (with help from other original cast - you can still feel the antipathy between J.R. and Cliff Barnes) stole each episode. Season 2 starts in January. I wonder how many episodes have filmed already. I can’t quite imagine the show without J.R.

When I got to UT as a freshman, my hall’s lounge was decorated with the words, “Who Shot J.R.???” Then on a trip to Dallas, some of us visited Southfork Ranch. I didn’t watch the series often, but I liked Larry Hagman.

About a year ago I was at a big charity shin-dig and noticed i was in a buzz of people. After they had taken photos, the press moved on and I was standing next to Mr. Hagman. He looked at me, and I asked “sir, would you mind one more photo?”. He gave that blinding smile and hugged me around the waist while DH snapped with iPhone. I know i have never ever felt a leather jacket as soft and nice as his. He was gracious and laughing but later we were walking behind his group and you could tell he was feeling his age. Hat down at a picnic table with his friends and in the dark I think hundreds of people passed him and had no idea that they were at Southfork and that “JR” was right there.
Class act.
He will be missed.
