Odd thing was I liked JR more than the goody characters on the show.

Awww. I liked him.

too bad. I just met someone recently who knew him. now I remember - it was a neighbor. :(

Also was on I dream of Genie (Jeannie?). Childhood…

Never really watched Dallas.

To me he will always be Major Nelson:

RIP… i am the same as golffather…never watched dallas but always watched i dream of jeannie

He lived near my community and was active in local causes. He would open his home (a ranch near Ojai named “Heaven”) for fundraisers. A very good man. RIP

My H worked with Mr. Hagman a few times. A very good guy.

Aww.when DH and I were poor newlyweds, our standing Friday night date was pizza and beer at our neighborhood pizza dive and then home to watch Dallas.

Thanks. Hadnt heard the news. He was an icon.

For some years he had a silent day when he wouldn’t speak.

We watch the new Dallas on TNT. Larry Hagman (with help from other original cast - you can still feel the antipathy between J.R. and Cliff Barnes) stole each episode. Season 2 starts in January. I wonder how many episodes have filmed already. I can’t quite imagine the show without J.R.

I admit, I was a Dallas junkie, and am starting to watch the new series.

Will miss his mischievous laugh as JR.

He had such a weird childhood. His mom was Mary Martin of Peter Pan fame.

When I got to UT as a freshman, my hall’s lounge was decorated with the words, “Who Shot J.R.???” Then on a trip to Dallas, some of us visited Southfork Ranch. I didn’t watch the series often, but I liked Larry Hagman.

I was friends with the people who owned Southfork (the real owners). It was an interesting time.

About a year ago I was at a big charity shin-dig and noticed i was in a buzz of people. After they had taken photos, the press moved on and I was standing next to Mr. Hagman. He looked at me, and I asked “sir, would you mind one more photo?”. He gave that blinding smile and hugged me around the waist while DH snapped with iPhone. I know i have never ever felt a leather jacket as soft and nice as his. He was gracious and laughing but later we were walking behind his group and you could tell he was feeling his age. Hat down at a picnic table with his friends and in the dark I think hundreds of people passed him and had no idea that they were at Southfork and that “JR” was right there.
Class act.
He will be missed.
