Last Day Of Summer - Share a Happy Moment

Last full day of summer! Feels like full on summer here in Ohio where it will be 85 and humid and I’ll be swimming in the pool while leaves also fall in the yard, lol

Thought it be nice to share a summer moment/memory that put a smile on your face. A thanks to summer 2024. :sun_with_face:

My moment:
A nighttime walk with fireflies buzzing around with the kids and the dogs to the neighborhood ice cream stand. :icecream:

It still feels like summer here today…so I’m going to sit by our lake.

Summer has been terrific. We went to two terrific weddings (third one is first weekend in October).

Did our annual trip to the Jersey Shore, and saw some friends there too.

It’s been a nice relaxing summer.

Where at the shore do you go?
We spent a lovely long weekend in Bradley Beach in July and our D was able to join us at the last minute.
Found a new ice cream shop and walked on the beach in the moonlight.

Yesterday I got to do a short hike in Mount Rainier National Park, and I saw black bears, marmots, and mountain goats. My first time seeing any of these in the wild!

Ocean City NJ. We really like it there. And we go just post season, so it’s great.

Lots of fun times this summer, including a long road trip. My favorite afternoon was a family reunion picnic with lots of cousins (the aunts/uncles are all gone now) and their families, held at a charming riverside private park in CT. My 97 year old Dad was able to get there with his wife. He is frustrated to need a walker, but he was cheerful and sharp. At one point he stood up and had a speech and prayer. Then he had us all sing “God Bless America”….twice. Followed by “This Land is Your Land”.

Perfect day for a swim!

Making fresh tomato sauce from the garden, that is still not giving up yet.

Our rockhounding trip to MI was the highlight of my summer. My oldest daughter, who lives 12 hours away, came along and we had a great time bonding with her. Our youngest has lived nearby or with us while she attends college so it was nice to spend some one on one with our oldest.

I would love to hear more about this trip, what rockhounding exactly is and highlights you saw along the trip as I adore Michigan!

You could put any details you care to share in the general travel thread!
