Last minute chance?

<p>So I have to admit I my anxiety toward college admission is only exacerbated by reading posts on this website, but I’m swallowing my pride and posting a “chance me.” Please be nice.</p>

<p>My GPA is not a strong point: 3.52 cumulative, 4.5 first semester senior</p>

<p>Class Rank: 250/886, competitive school</p>

<p>SAT: 1770 CR- 600, Math- 510, Writing- 660</p>

<p>SAT Subjects Tests: U.S. History- 580, Literature- 580</p>

<p>AP: U.S History (4), English Lang. and Composition (3), English Lit., Environmental Science, U.S Government.</p>

<p>EC:
-Advanced choir: 4 years, VP (11), music librarian (12), leadership award (11), varsity letter (10, 11)</p>

<p>-Journalism: 1 year (12), Editor, Business Manager, Jr. Copy Editor, Photo of the Issue Award, Editor of the Issue Award.</p>

<p>-FBLA: 2 years (11-12), Fund-raising Committee Head (11), leadership award (11)</p>

<p>-Lit Mag: 1 year (12)</p>

<p>-PTA Reflections Competitor: 1st Place in District- Literature (11), 3rd place school-wide- Visual Arts (10)</p>

<p>-Private voice lessons: 4 years</p>

<p>-Volunteered with junior high choir program for two summers (10, 11)</p>

<p>Essays: Top-notch. My AP Lit teacher said I had the best ones of the year and saved copies as examples for future years.</p>

<p>Wow, I pretty much have the same exact stats?! I kinda feel a little better because I thought my chances were low for GWU but if someone like me applied im a little less tense uk? I hope we both get in though = ) Seriously, I know how you feel.</p>

<p>I’ve always wanted to do this ranking thing:</p>

<p>Your GPA, rank, and standardized test scores are not excellent according to GWU’s standards (67% from top 10%, SAT Mid-Range 1890-2110), but decent nontheless. HOWEVER, your ECs will carry you far…which sub-school are you entering? CCAS may be a stretch along with Engineering, but the other schools may not be that bad. Media or Int’l affairs would be a targetish. I don’t know about Public Health.</p>

<p>Having read some of your posts, I realized you’re in the Media school…</p>

<p>That, I THINK, should be a Target (average) school for you (not a safety nor a reach).</p>

<p>I too think you have a shot. When you step back and look at numbers, you actually have fine scores. Its just this crazy college frenzy that has us all in knots striving for perfection on every level! GW is known to look at their applicants as whole people. Your EC’s will really help with admissions and in fact- sticking my neck out…I think you will be admitted.</p>
