Last minute Easter

We are thrilled that we will now be hosting a Thursday egg dying session, park play time and lunch, then a Sunday morning just-us and child/grandchild brunch (all the relatives will convene Easter afternoon for a baby shower). Unfortunately our SIL has to be out of town all week.
Help! Our temp condo here has nothing I can use to make the holiday special but I don’t want to buy a bunch of cheap stuff from factories overseas. How can I decorate a living/dining room?

Fresh spring flowers and buy plant decor deep green moss and nest in the dyed eggs as a natural centerpiece.

The flowers can either be cut flowers and put in vases, glasses or mason jars or small live spring garden plants and wrap their containers in pastel tissue paper.

Another idea is a smaller vase inside a larger vase and you fill the gap with jelly beans, so you can’t see the vase inside the vase - add water and flowers to the smaller vase. Super cute and works well for Valentine’s Day and candy hearts too.

Spring colored napkins and scattered chocolate eggs on the table is cute too.

Minimal waste and not purchasing throw away junk.

The time together sounds special – I wouldn’t worry a lot about decorations.

If you’re near a Costco, they have jelly bellies on coupon. I got a 4# bag @$14 and made lots of tiny ziplock bags of them and have been handing them out & collecting smiles in return.

If you tire of dying eggs, some folks are dying and painting and decorating potatoes instead.

Agree some flowers (tulips are in season) and a basket or little bag and you’re set!

Agree that decor isn’t as important as the time together! Little ones aren’t as concerned about decor in my experience.

Or buy your grandchild a pet bunny

Another vote for fresh flowers and some glass bowls of easter candy.

Also love the idea of Easter napkins.

Make sure the parents are interested in a pet bunny if one seriously contemplates one—that’s a lot of work and they can live many years. We were told we were getting an old bunny that likely wouldn’t live long. It lived many, many years and the young companion bunny the kids insisted on buying lived even longer. We decided to make them outdoor bunnies in an outdoor hutch instead of chancing having them indoors where they gnaw on cords & furniture and everything else, plus poop & pee where ever they roam.

LOL. Like “winning” a gold fish at a fair.

or a Siamese fighting fish or any live creature….or the baby chicks that used to be given at Easter and then taken to shelters when no longer “cute.”

Or hermit crabs.

I think the reference to getting a bunny was a joke.

When little kid was in middle school, someone’s Easter bunny was likely let go after it grew bigger and required care… he wandered the neighborhood, was chased by dogs, ended up in our yard. Long story short, Mr. Bun Bun ended up being our pet for 6 years!

I’ve seen bunnies given to local shelters when they weren’t socialized or owners couldn’t care for them.

Yes - I thought the laughing emoji was a give away…but guess not clear - it was a joke!

Sadly, too many people get animals they aren’t able to care for. I’m sure it was meant as a joke but others not so much.

Thanks for all your input. Found bunny napkins and a book. She did very well dying the eggs. The eggs are here so they can be safely hidden without the dog discovering them! The big silver egg has a bath plushie/scrubby thing inside.
I went a bit overboard with the plants but I decided we need this planter on our balcony.
