Late Supplements?

Would a late supplement have a negative effect on an applicant’s application?

For example: Some Top LAC’s require a writing sample that must be graded by teachers. If we have not given the teachers our writing before the winter break, obviously it cannot be graded in time for the January 1, 2010 deadline. So would it be okay if we send the graded writing sample by mail on January 4, 2010 or January 5, 2010?

Would this be viewed negatively? Like, the applicant could not respect deadlines, etc.?

I also have the same question for a music supplement. If it is not sent in until after the deadline, is that detrimental?

You need to check on that specific college’s admission website. Each school is different. Some require that they receive EVERY part of the application deadline, some do not. However, it would be better if you do not send supplements after the deadline since it is disrespectful to the school’s specific instructions.

You could call the undegrad admission office and ask.
