Launching your Christmas tree

This is even better than melting the asphalt driveway or setting up a potato cannon.

[Launching a Christmas tree with 32 large model rocket engines](http://www.boingboing.net/2010/01/06/launching-a-christma.html#comments)

That is SO something my husband would love!!!

Thanks for that link. My AE son is gonna love it. Unfortunately, our tree isn’t down yet and over the vacation my husband found a stash of unused model rocket engines. I’ll need to keep an eye on them…

OMG, I sent the link to hubby and then realized - our tree is still up!

GREAT IDEA…we are just a few miles from the Rose Bowl. If you see a tree streaking over the BCS Championship game tonight…just know that it’s dedicated to my CC chums.

Cool. I used to launch. Got DS involved in launching in 1st grade.
Now I think we have to get Homeland Security clearance.

woops…to any Homeland Security types monitoring potential “launchs” by middle aged Pasadena moms…I WAS JUST KIDDING.

Too funny – sending link to S who loves all things that fly, and who hopes to be a pilot someday …

Loved it! Sent link to my former “rocket boys”, H and S1, now a current PhD student. I bet they wish they had thought of this.

But would you have let them do it? :)

Absolutely! A family of engineers here. Wouldn’t think twice if they wanted to do something similar.

We grow Christmas trees, and I just want to point out that though some of the dry grass caught fire, the Christmas tree did not!

Passing this one on to my sons…looks like fun.

H did not like the fact that the launch happened in the middle of a field full of dried grass, but appreciated the fact that the kids brought a couple of fire extingushers along.
