Launching

I admit I was quite jealous reading about the kids who call their parents every week or AIM them more frequently than that, so I called my D last night to see if she needed help moving ( She had been living in a Reed house- with students- but was planning to move before school starts)
She is ALREADY moved! ( I was kinda hoping I could help- I just watched Transamerica last night & it reminded me of a friend who took a cross country road trip with her daughter before she started college- we didn’t do anythng like that)

She is living in a duplex, with two young men ( everyone has their own space- one of the young men is living w his girlfriend- (who is looking for her own space)- on another floor)
She just got back from camping at the Gorge, it sounded like with about 8 other people and a dog who sleeps on her bed, when his owner has the late shift ( he is an EMT-paramedic)
She sounded happy, of course I didn’t ask her how job searching is going-, I figure she will tell me when she finds something. I wish she would think of something I could send her though- maybe I will give her a shock and be overly domestic and make cookies!

Her sister comes back from camp today- where she has been in a junior counselor program for the past month.

THat will be * fun* I will be happy to see her, but it will be a hard transition for her to be home- not to mention tommorow we have to go to her school to try and get her classes changed. ( math is really hard for her- and she was assigned the only teacher she really didn’t want- I think we can fix it though)

I will be thinking of everyone as they get their kids off to school- but keep in mind- they are still technically living under your roof, and they will always be your kids- its just that their room is further away ( so you don’t have to avert your eyes when you walk past) :)
