Laundry stand off

I wonder if I could get a special ruling for a “domestic” dog in the dorm, amazing! Ironing?..yes I seem to remember.

Our septic system works terribly. It is only 10 yrs old but we have clay soil and the leach lines are slow. If we do to much laundry it starts to bubble. Of course by the time the guy comes out to check the water level has gone back down.
I am the queen of laundry sorting. My kids wear red often and I am paranoid about pink laundry. I usually have whites, jeans, dark colors, pinks, grays and light blues, plus a load of green. Plus towels and sheets.
I don’t go looking for their laundry. We actually have a housekeeper who does some of the laundry. I do mine and my H’s since I don’t trust the housekeeper.
Like someone previous in the thread I tell the housekeeper to not clean my kids rooms if the floor is covered in junk and clothes.
What I have noticed about my son is that he is happy to do whatever I ask him to do but I have to ask. I hate emptying the dishwasher and he is always willing to do it but I have to ask. I do think somewhere along the way I failed in my training method.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but I found that it helped when I enhanced the laundry room- sort of the feng shui thing, I guess. Sort of. Cheerful, indoors, a window, clean and airy… made a big difference. I even put some pictures on the walls. I have a hanging rod for wet things, some extra hooks, plenty of hangers, laundry soaps, bleach, softener, spot cleaner, and brushes. Yikes, I feel like a Martha.

If I had to go outside to the garage, for example, I’d HATE laundry.

Astro–I just did that today, too!!! Unfortunately, we don’t have any place to sort laundry but our bed, so I have to clear it all off before I can go to sleep! I personally don’t believe in ironing, but I’ll fold if really forced into it.

But every piece of laundry directly picked out of the basket and worn is a victory to me! :)

H finds ironing to be a stress-reliever. He wakes up very early for work, so he automatically wakes early on weekends. He sets up the ironing board in the family room, pops in a DVD (Addams Family or Beverly Hillbillies, usually), and irons away.

Me, I HATE to iron. I swear by Downy Wrinkle Release spray!

kelsmom… whatever vices he may have, I say that your H is a keeper!!!

And I DO appreciate him! :)
