I’m replying to the post on the Newton Co., IN office shot and killed. His wife was doing a ride-along and was with him when he was shot.
Schreiber was an organ donor, and the department said his sacrifice in the line of duty will help save others.
Regarding home invasion in Houston, I was struck by how quickly neighbors called police. Took just four minutes for officers to respond.
“ “I walked around the corner because we all have this neighborhood app and so everybody is firing up their phones, and I walked over here and started talking to certain people, and that’s when I discovered what had happened, where it happened, and to whom,” he said. “… I think Houston is better than most in that area, I see people helping people all the time.””
Corporal Brandon Schreiber End of Watch
Newton County, Indiana has a population of 13,800. This is a very rural farming county with many related families. My heart breaks for his family and friends. This is too close to home in many ways.
It’s tough to listen to the dispatcher’s voice crack as she finishes his final tour of duty call over the radio.
Yes, that was so hard to listen to her voice. I’m a couple of counties over. I have several extended farm families I visit yearly to do their tax returns for the last 35 years. Indiana State Police have been assisting with shifts since he was shot and one of my LE sons has been working over there. It’s just so difficult in small town America when everyone knows everyone and half the people are related. I don’t think everyday people have any idea of the amount of crime that’s really out there. I know I didn’t.
I’m glad the officer will be okay, but I’m pissed the K-9 was killed.
Another K-9 killed? What a cute looking pup.
This could have gone in the good things that police do thread as well, but it’s very dangerous, so I’m putting it here.
I was watching this live as it happened Saturday night. Driving into a speeding car head on to protect the public is not something most people would consider doing.
The video from inside the police vehicles was crazy to watch. This just shows the dash camera from another police vehicle.
This is body cam video from officers that ended up in a gunfight, inside a Milwaukee apartment, while attempting to arrest a man accused of domestic violence related false imprisonment and sexual assault. The suspect hid in a bathroom and started shooting at the officers. Some officers retreated to a living room area and others had to retreat across the hall from the bathroom, into a bedroom. The bedroom body cam video shows an officer just miss getting shot by the suspect at around the 5:25 mark.
Could you stay in the apartment and try to apprehend a suspect while under fire, through walls?
The language here gets salty, so NSFW.
