layout or art editor

I need a bit of help
I’m applying for an editorial position in the student newspaper at my school.
I originally going to apply only for art editor but the faculty head wrote “have you thought about layout. you’d be great at it?”

So which one:

Art editor: who must consistently draw for the paper and is in charge of distributions of cartoons ( I also want to start a set of actual comic strips b/c there has been so much interest this year that people only get to draw 2 or 3 times).

Layout: previous exp. working in Indesign or a similar program (which would include…?) You must be technical and creative.

so… yeah
A little help

i’m surprised you’re having trouble deciding between these two positions, since they are very different.

if you’re really creative and artistic, you’d probably enjoy the art editor job more. layout is creative, but it also involves more technical stuff (especially with Indesign) and is more about how to present other people’s work most effectively. the artists on my paper’s staff would get bored if they had to do normal layouts.
