Yes, I am applying too!

Can anyone here tell me that what kind of essay we need to write?

How long are your essays? Do you think 200-300 words for each EC and 100-150 words for each award is too long?

@yesyesyes1‌ Yes that seems a bit too excessive. Unless it is really necessary to describe it at such length, I would stay away from doing that.

Especially considering the essays are supposed to be 300 - 400, there is no need to write essay-esque length descriptions.

How long are your essays? @dilan412

Around 375, within their guidelines. @yesyesyes1‌

I have 328 words for my most important EC (it deserves that much explanation), 238 words for the next, and 213 for the last. For awards I have 231 words for my most important award (needs that much explanation), 91 words for the next, and 99 for the last. Do you really think thats waaaaaay too much, especially for a program this competitive? @dilan412

@yesyesyes1‌ Personally, that does seem a bit excessive, especially seeing that in my other applications they set a 100 word limit. Also, given the statement on the app saying please do not exceed 1 to 2 paragraphs, doing simple math you have about 100-150 words per paragraph. 10-15 words a sentence gives 10 or so sentences, which imho is way too much especially to describe an EC. I am sure that it can be expressed much more concisely. Remember quality over quantity. My question would be how an award needs to be explained in 231 words. In the end, it is up to you.

If you need help on cutting out extra material, I would be happy to help through PM.

The long EC is because its about starting my own successful nonprofit - its a big highlight of my application. The long award is a National Congressional Award, which entails quite a bit of explanation, but I’ll still see if I can cut it down. How long are your ECs and awards? @dilan412

Most are around 100-150 words.

Where else are you guys applying to if LBW doesn’t work out?

I already applied to the LEAD program and if neither of these work out I wil likely just be taking classes at a local university. How about you guys?

Is anyone else getting a “overdue” message on items that were definitely submitted on time? My “submit your application” button does say “form completed.” Does anyone know what this means?
