LEAD Introductions--why not...

Here is a place for all the future LEADers of the world to introduce yourself

Please include, besides whatever else you want to add, your name (first will suffice), your state, your future Summere Business Institute, your aspirations in brief (schools? career? other dreams?), and…

if you have Facebook–if so, we should add each other

And this thread won’t stand a chance to live past 2 days since there’s like…9 people who applied to lead who are on this forum, and maybe half who actually got it :stuck_out_tongue: Is there another forum any former LEADers know to talk about this?

lol, radron

hahah, what can I say? I didn’t get into LEAD with my 3.6GPA or 189PSAT, I got in by being obtuse :P

very good point
TASP

RSI

LEAD

in terms of posters/posts

Haha admit it DJ the TASP forum… you just cant compete, write a business plan with vertical market strategies or W/e and you still wont pass us :-P

Was that a TASP-er who just invaded our thread? OHHHHH NO YOU DIDN’T.

Vertical marketing strategy? Pshh…TRY 360 DEGREE INTEGRATED MARKETING STRATEGY

Bring on the thunder, the LEAD thread will dominate TASP now if I have to will it myself.

hey…i got into lead dartmouth…but i also got into “fte economics for leaders” at cornell…i dont know which one i should go to…plus the econ one is cheaper than lead…and they tagged an extra $250 for “activities”…

And i’m still not sure about LEAD i may do the Howard Hughes Medical Institute program at Spelman…ahhhh :-/

How many threads on here have you seen about the economics for leaders program juxtaposed to LEAD? Google them, LEAD has been on businessweek. Here, check out this post

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=228176&highlight=lead

I think it’s a no-brainer.

True but cost is a factor here… considering I am only paying $125 for a week whereas for LEAD I am paying over $300 per week. And my thinking is I could go to the cheaper one and work the rest of the summer. Like does anyone know if they do give financial aid? And is it need based or scholarship based? Plus who will be teaching us at LEAD? Finally (for the dartmouth one) what kind of off site work are we doing and where (dartmouth’s not exactly close to much)?

I do know that there is financial aid. If you go to the website in the acceptance letter there is a link for Financial Aid that you send in with your acceptance letter. I think it is need Based.

Think of it this way, pay more for LEAD but get into a better college and have better chances at scholarship later…or don’t go to LEAD and risk being among the thousands of applicants trying to get into a prestigious school without even thinking of financial aid. Long term importance, long term importance…

And LEAD is designated for people in struggling financial situations. Did you fill in the income section in your application? if so, file for financial aid.

Just my .02

dartmouth’s not exactly close to much???
i resent that
it’s close to me  …my house is about 10 feet from campus
but yeah other than that not really anything

i kinda wish i had applied to lead

I’m not disagreeing with you…but is LEAD really directed towards kids in struggling financial situations? I thought that it was more of a program for URMs, not necessarily people with financial need. But either way its goal is to help those disadvantaged in some sort of capacity.

bebegrl, it might be a little futile to ask whether LEAD or HHMI/Spelman is a better summer choice since you’re on the LEAD thread and most people will obviously push you towards LEAD  Anyway I don’t know much about LEAD but HHMI is sciency and LEAD is economicsy, so why not choose the one more in line with your interests?

The RSI thread is sort of dead so I’m sure you guys will eventually beat us.

lol. yay…i might be able to get my program dates switched for “econ for leaders” so i think im gonna do lead…
