Learn French in the summer 2010

Do you know a summer camp (sleep in) for a middle school kid to learn French? preferably something academic. we’d appreciate any info. - beginner’s level. east coast, close to washington D.c.

French immersion at Universite Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia (approx. $3000 for 5 weeks) takes all levels, from beginner to fluent-refresher. All of my friends who’ve attended have loved it, and one was almost a complete beginner (took Spanish in HS). Age requirement is 15, but IIRC the program has accepted kids as young as 13 on a case-by-case basis if they are socially mature.

My daughter went to Middlebury College’s MMLA ([Middlebury Monterey Language Academy](http://www.mmla.middlebury.edu)) and had a fantastic experience. She had 2 years of mediocre high school French. After going to the MMLA she finds herself wanting to watch French films and has loaded her ipod up with French music. I don’t speak French, but I’m told that she is pretty good. This program also takes all levels and is for middle through high school age kids.
