Leave car on campus?

Is it safe to leave my car on campus over winter break?

I personally wouldn’t leave it.

DPS offers free parking permits for parking center, which is better secured. It is valid from Dec 14 to Jan 11.

DPS and Transportation announces its annual Operation G.I.F.T.

Avoid parking on public streets during the semester breaks. Free parking will be available to faculty, staff, and students during:
• Thanksgiving Break, November 25th through November 30th
• Winter Recess Break, December 14th through January 11, 2010.
There are a limited number of available parking spaces. Parking passes are available at the DPS station on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. DPS is located at PSA.

USC Transportation is pleased to offer all USC faculty, staff and students courtesy shuttles to LAX. Space is limited, so sign up now at [LAX Holiday Shuttle | USC Auxiliary Services | Transportation](http://transnet.usc.edu/guest_services/lax-shuttle.aspx). Deadlines are November 20th and December 19th.

About G.I.F.T.:
Group Initiative For Theft-prevention is a campus wide campaign targeting burglary of vehicles and vehicle theft reduction within the USC community during the Thanksgiving and Winter Recess breaks. The USC Department of Public Safety and USC Transportation have combined efforts to reduce the number of vehicles that were stolen or broken into last year during the Thanksgiving and Winter breaks.

DPS will increase crime suppression patrol, and your participation in the GIFT program will assist the crime prevention efforts. Don’t risk parking on the street and giving criminals the gift of an opportunity with your vehicle. Take our GIFT and secure your vehicle and enjoy your time away from campus.

^ yeah but it’s not perfectly safe either, my car got broken into at the parking center during the summer. But I did leave it there for a long time and this is only going to be a little bit less than a month so hopefully no problems. I would leave it in the higher floors though and lock it up really well. Don’t leave anything inside that looks like it might be worth something.

I left mine, but I left my keys with two friends so they could check on my car and even start it every once in awhile

I ended up just leaving it at my cousin’s, even though it’s a bit of a hassle but just to be safe

Well ****, I left mine in PSX on the first floor…fantastic. This is what you get when you get completely caught up in finals then run off campus.

Speaking of this…is anyone going to be on campus in the next couple weeks who wouldn’t mind doing me the super small favor of just looking to see if my car is still where it should be? I would incredibly appreciate it…PM me if you can!
