Leave Class president off resume?

Freshman year I was class president. After that, I quit student council (for various reasons). Is this something I should leave off my resume because it was not a continued activity?

O and also, how do I note on my resume that an activity is still going on if I can only put a date? put a future date?

if you quit for a legitimate and understandable reason, put it in and explain why you quit. if not, just leave it off.

for the activity, just place a future date (probably the date when you’ll stop doing it).

thanks for the advice. I will leave it off! :p

Why would you leave it off? Stick it on there! Class president is a great thing to have, even if it was only for one year. Plus, it shows you were doing good stuff freshman year. You won’t be penalized for quitting. I bet you’ve gotten involved with lots of other ECs since, so you don’t need a ‘reason’.

I agree with thebeef. Also, for the date, if you are still involved just put something like Sept. 2007 - present.

You do not need a reason that you did not participate in student government longer. Definitely put Class President on your resume. Being the president of your class shows leadership, organization, hard work, sociability, ability to work with others, and more. I highly recommend listing it. Some schools that publish their admissions criteria (like certain UC’s) actually give a boost to kids who have leadership positions like class president. Good luck.

I would include it, unless you have such a long list of things it is minor in comparison. That shows good initiative as far back as freshman.

Yeah, I wish I had something like class president as a freshman.

But my circumstances could be worse so I’m not complaining.

To answer your question, PUT IT IN THERE!
