Leaving it all behind

Okay, “leaving it all behind” may be a slight exaggeration as I’ll only be transferring to a school that’s a 4 hour drive away from my current school. But still, my current school is in my hometown… my long-term boyfriend is here, my awesome housemates, all my family, an on-campus job I love. I’ll be leaving if I found out I got into the nursing major at another school, as it will allow me to graduate on-time (something I couldn’t do if I stayed here).

Any advice for coping with transferring away from everything? I’m really worried about getting my emotional needs met (having friends, comfort, etc…). I’ve never been good at handling drastic changes and I guess I’m just looking for some advice from anyone who’s done it before. Thanks. :)
