leaving some blank on ap exams

MY APUSH exam is tomorrow. I’m generally not one to leave anything blank but how much would you leave blank? How does that play into your score? Pleae exaplain to me by 10 o’clock tonight please! TIA

How it plays in: Don’t get the additional -0.25 guessing; just counts as a wrong answer

I’m going to try to leave at the maximum 5 five blank…guessing if I can eliminate 2 of answer choices.

There shouldn’t be a set number that you’d automatically want to predetermine as blank answers as you may find your able to answer all of them with some confidence.

Last year I made I took the APUSH test on 2 hrs of sleep, and only answered 40/80 MC questions and still passed with a 3. Ideally, if your going for a 4 I’d say you’d want to answer 60-65. If your going for a 5, try to answer all of them. Statistically speaking, if you can eliminate 1, it’s in your favor to guess as that would result in a zero net gain. If you can eliminate 2, definitely guess!

Good luck on your test tomorrow! :)

I got a five last year, and I skipped 5-7

Ideally, you shouldn’t leave any blank and you should answer all questions if you can eliminate ONE answer choice–the number of points you get from answering questions right and the number of points deducted by answering questions incorrectly through random guessing cancel out when there’s 4 answer choices–so if you can eliminate 100% one of the answer choices then GUESS.

Of course, you should probably be able to eliminate 2-3 answer choices, which improves your odds significantly and you should definitely guess.

You should only leave it blank if you have absolutely no idea of the answer and can’t even eliminate one answer choice.

Usually, even if you have no idea about the question, there is at least one answer choice that is completely absurd that you should be able to eliminate.

Yeah–usually common sense alone will eliminate one of the answer choices–and then guess among the remaining.

You should answer all questions period.

if 0 answers eliminated in 5 questions, most probable outcome:
1 right, 4 wrong. 1 - 4 X .25 = 0

if left blank score = 0

if 1 answer eliminated in 5 questions, most probable outcome:
1/4 X 5 - 3/45.25 = .3125 which is > 0

If you have five blank and you guess on one correctly, it evens out. I always go for the guess.
