Legacies and Deferrals

I’m convinced that Dartmouth’s strategy with legacies it doesn’t accept is to defer them and then put them on the waiting list after rejecting them.

Does anyone know of a Dartmouth legacy who was rejected during the Early Decision process?

Yes, I know a girl who was a legacy and was outright rejected ED. Her GPA was very low. I also know a girl who was a legacy, was deferred, and then was ultimately accepted. It’s a tip factor at best.

I’m a multi-generational legacy who got deferred. I’ve heard that what often happens with legacies is that tehy’ll get deferred and then accepted because they don’t need anything from the school and Dartmouth gives some weight to their status. I’ve also read that being a legacy increases your chances of getting in off a deferral. Is this true?
